Teri Jon: How to Dress Like a Mad Men Woman

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Who doesn’t love AMC’s hit series Mad Men? While the scripts and cast of characters keep us
coming back for more, the visual aesthetics keep our eyes glued to our television sets. Draped in rich fabrics
and stunning prints, each one of our beloved characters holds her own while maintaining her femininity and elegance.

Committed to these same principles of femininity and elegance, we found striking similarities with some signature pieces of Teri Jon and the iconic style choices of these classic women on the set. We felt a strong correlation between the designs of Teri Jon and the cast of characters, and Rickie put it into words with a Metro International interview with Heidi Patalano.

“Women in particular relate to each of the characters,” said fashion designer Rickie Freeman of Teri
Jon in a recent article on Metro. “There is a little Betty, Joanie and Peggy in all of us. Whether we are feeling motherly and domestic, brainy and professional or sexy, curvy and clever — there is a constant inner battle where women for years are trying to find that perfect balance.”

We gathered some of our favorite collection pieces and quickly identified them with the characters of the show so you can get your hands on these wardrobe must-haves!

Our version of Peggy is simplicity at its best. This short sleeve crepe dress gathers in the middle and flatters the waist while illuminating Teri Jon’s commitment to details. The bateau neckline brings proportion to the silhouette and is Ideal for any occasion that calls for a chic and modest look. A shorter sleeve makes it the perfect pick for any event!

You’ll love it so much you’ll want to put your own copyright on it! Buy this dress here.

Classic and chic in her perfectly tailored ensembles, Betty is really something to rave about. With this dress, we’ve got a great silhouette that would lay beautifully on any frame with a perfect fit.

Uniform in color while stunning in design, this combo knit dress is all about the details. Small details like the shirring at the shoulder take this already-fabulous dress to the next level. The belted waist and gathered fabrics are decorated to soften the homogeneous appearance and add richness through texture to the overall aesthetic. We perfected the already-perfect formula of essentials to be nothing but figure-flattering. Layered with a string of pearls, this has Betty written all over it. Buy this dress here.

In a design that commands attention and a fit that will leave a room speechless, Joan heads out of the office to a dinner party. In this dress she’ll have everyone staring!

This is one of our very favorite party dresses; a fitted and flattering strapless silhouette highlighted with dramatic gathering across the shoulder that forms itself into a bow to add glamour & leaves you feeling sensational. The stylish water floral print, originating from a vintage swatch, adds an artistic element to this stunning sleeveless sheath. Use the antique belt to pull in the waist and compliment the fabrics or take it off to draw the attention away from the middle. You just may start rumors around the office with this one! A trip to Berlin

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

On the cutting edge of fashion with some of today’s hottest up and coming designers lies Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, which took place last week. It has been most recently used as a platform to discover, counsel, encourage, support and promote new, young, international designers as well as celebrate and re-confirm some of the more major and most established names in the industry.

While each designer brings their own style and feel to the cauldron of creativity brewing over the 4-day event, there is a common thread or trend that weaves us into the most up-to-date styles for the season ahead. Refreshing, modern, embellished and distinct collection pieces marched themselves through runway after runway to claim the throne on the hot list of who’s who designers.

This stunning white dress from the Frida Weyer collection features a soft white flower that consumes the entire dress.

Ruffles, sequins embellishments, metallics and leathers made up not only some of the most distinctive pieces on the cat-walk but are also some of the signature features of this seasons Teri Jon and sportswear collections.

This teal dress takes the concept of a fabric flower and scales it down.
