What even is velvet?
Velvet is a silky textile with a lux piled surface. This season our velvets are dyed a variety of jewel tones, giving the splendid, soft styles lots and lots of depth. The colors look so royal, no wonder the fabric was originally reserved for the best robes of the most sumptuous kings and queens of the medieval world! (The tradition of velvet garments for royalty is even said to go back to 2000 BCE!)
Velvet has shown up all over the runways this year. Seen in Givenchy, Valentino, or Margiela, our flowing versions of velvet gowns are simply decadent and nothing is more lush for the holiday season.
So seasonally appropriate and loaded with luxury, check out some of our sensual styles for a glamorous gala filled with grandeur!
PS! Of course the name “velvet” also lends itself to our favorite fine textured, silky cake. Traditionally made as a layer cake (or cupcakes), the treats include the finest buttermilk, cocoa, butter, sifted flour, and cream cheese frosting to make our mouths water just thinking about them! We also just might have to head to the kitchen to whip up some of these delicious treats after we’re done here…
We’re so glad you loved our Thanksgiving recipes, and so we wanted to let you know what’s next on our kitchen list! We’re going to try these Baked Red Velvet Donuts found on Homemade Hooplah! The recipe looks incredible, and we love such an inventive twist on the classic dessert!
